My Review of The Secret of Orchard Cottage by Alex Brown

Welcome to my Review of The Secret of Orchard Cottage by Alex Brown! I'm very excited to be reviewing this book as I adore Alex and all of her books! This is the third book in the Tindledale series, but can quite easily be read as a stand alone.

April Wilson is wondering what to do next – her life has been turned upside down after the loss of her husband so she’s hoping to piece herself together again with a visit to her elderly great aunt, Edith. Arriving in the rural idyll of Tindledale, she’s dismayed to find Edith’s cottage and the orchard behind it in a sorry state of disrepair. Edith seems to have lost interest completely, instead she’s become desperate to find out what happened to her sister, Winnie, who disappeared during WWII.

What I Say:

Where do I start?? I love Alex! She's such a lovely person and a greatly talented writer. She has the power to draw you into a story, more than a lot of more established authors. She is a magical storyteller who creates a world (the village of Tindledale) that you become so immersed in that you don't want to leave when the book ends.

Edie, April and Nancy are wonderful women. Strong, courageous, loving and kind. The sort of women we all know, love and aspire to be. I cried for each of them and felt like I actually knew them. April gives me hope that I'm doing the right thing in starting a new life at the age of 38 and that I may still get my happy ever if I just go looking for it.

I loved following as the story unfolded and we began to discover the secrets that were held within Orchard Cottage. It kept me gripped until the very end and I found myself unable to put this book down to go to bed! I finished reading at 2am! Not many books can keep me away from my bed! I sobbed at the end, like proper messy crying and I felt so satisfied with the way it was all tied up nicely. Such a wonderful feeling, to be completely moved yet fulfilled by a book!

Alex, you've done it again. Each time I read one of your books, I think "this is the best one yet!". The Secret of Orchard Cottage is your best book yet! I can't wait to see what's next from you! 10/10
