My Review of Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses by Jenny Hale

Welcome to the first of my Festive Book Reviews.

I know I'm starting early, but with the number of Christmas books I have to read, I had to start a few weeks ago. It seemed too early to post any before Halloween (my personal belief is that Christmas can't begin until after Halloween and Halloween can't begin before Thanksgiving, which is the beginning of October for Canadians) so my first few reviews will follow in quick succession hopefully and then become more regular until after the Holidays.

The first book I picked up was Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses by Jenny Hale. This was published by Bookouture on 15 Oct 2015.

What They Say:

Single mother Abbey Fuller loves her family more than anything, and doesn’t regret for a moment having had to put her dreams of being an interior designer on hold. But with her son, Max, growing up, when a friend recommends her for a small design job she jumps at the chance. How hard can it be?

Nick Sinclair needs his house decorated in time for his family’s festive visit – and money is no object. What he doesn’t need is to be distracted from his multi-million dollar business – even if it is Christmas.

When Abbey pulls up to the huge Sinclair mansion, she has a feeling she might be out of her depth. And when she meets the gorgeous, brooding Nicholas Sinclair, she knows that she’s in real trouble…

With the snow falling all around, can Abbey take the chance to make her dreams of being a designer come true? And can she help Nick to finally enjoy the magic of Christmas?

What I Say:

This is the first of Jenny's books that I have read. I have them all on my Kindle, waiting to read but I think I felt they were a bit cutesy, so I haven't picked them up.

I was wrong. Christmas Wishes has made desperate to read all of Jenny's books. Her character development is fantastic! I don't think I have ever been drawn in so deeply and instantly to the lives of a set of characters! I adored Abby, Max and Nick!

The scenery is just breath taking, reminding me of Christmases spent back home in Canada. The snow, the all-out decorating, the food and family. It's been quite a long time since I felt the warmth and love of a proper Christmas and this book filled the gap nicely.

At first, Nick is hard to warm to. He's so focused on work and his business that he doesn't see what is missing in his life. But when Abby is hired to decorate his huge home for the holidays and the upcoming family visit, he is forced to look up from his work. Abby's son Max is able to persuade Nick to have a bit of fun and together, they make a great pair!

I don't want to spoil anything but I will say that you won't regret reading this book. It has restored my faith in a good old fashioned Christmas and that work isn't everything!

Fun, Festive and just a little Fluffy, just like a Christmas Jumper! 10/10

Thanks to Bookouture for sending me an e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Welcome to my blog tour stop and review of The Book-Lover's Retreat by Heidi Swain! What They Say:  One long summer. One perfect setting. Blog Tour Stop with Review of A Truth For A Truth by Carol Wyer

First off, I must apologise to Zoe and Carol. My blog tour stop was yesterday, and somehow my post got lost in the ether. I didn't notice until today, as thr hubby hasn't been well, and my time has been taken up with my dogs and caring for hubs. So, a day late and pared down from my original post due to lack of time, here is my review of A.Truth For A Truth by the wonderful Carol Wyer. Review: What can I say?? Any book by Carol Wyer is going to be a hit in my opinion, and this is no exception. DI Kate Young is a flawed character who is full of heart and humility. I think she's been dealt a shit hand in life, and struggles to figure out her path. Traumas and dramas, untrustworthy men, and unstable mental health make her slightly difficult to bond with sometimes. But still, I care a lot about her wellbeing. This installment of her series is really compelling, and an interesting take on a "who dunnit". More of a "who will they THINK dunnit"! I loved that!
