My Review of The Curvy Girls Club by Michele Gorman

I love Michele's books and have been looking forward to reading this for ages! I'm so glad I finally did!

What They Say:

Can the curvy girls have their cake and eat it?

Meet best friends Pixie, Ellie, Katie and Jane. Fed up with always struggling to lose weight, they start a social club where size doesn’t matter. Soon it’s the most popular place to be – having fun instead of counting carbs. And the girls suddenly find their lives changing in ways they never imagined. But outside the club, things aren’t as rosy, as they struggle with the ups and downs of everyday life.

In this funny, heart-warming read about normal women learning to love themselves, the curvy girls soon realise that no matter what life throws at them, together, anything is possible . . .

What I Say:

Well, Michele has done it again! The Curvy Girls are a fantastic group of friends who just want to feel normal in a society somehow dominated by skinny minnies. The slimming group they attend weekly makes them all feel rubbish about themselves so eventually they make a stand and quit. They set out on their own and start planning weekly activities and soon loads of people want to join in.

I loved Katie. She's a wonderful,  strong woman who knows her mind and works hard to get what she wants. Ellie is ber best friend and housemate and she is a warm, sweet, loyal friend. Pixie took me a while to warm to but I felt a bit sorry for her. That changed before the end of the book and I found myself admiring her determination. Jane was  lovely and easy to identify with and I cried for her. It's a great group and I wish I had friends like them!

The message in The Curvy Girls put out there is brilliant - Love yourself, no  matter what size you are. It's not easy sometimes but I think it's possible. I'm most definitely no size 12 but I walk everywhere, I do a dance class each week and I enjoy cooking healthy meals for myself and my fiancé.  He always makes me feel beautiful and some days I even believe him. The Girls have helped me feel better about how others see me too.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone woman who has ever struggled with her weight,  body image or confidence. 9/10.

Thanks to Michele Groman and Notting Hill Press for sending me ane-copy in exchange for my honest review.

Why I'm Shaving My Head for Lancashire Women

Hi there! I know it's been ages since I've done a personal blog post.      Things have been... weird. I know the whole world has struggled getting used to this new normal and the new measures we have to follow. So many people have lost so much to COVID and my heart breaks for them. And while the virus itself hasn't changed my life very much, this time of lockdowns and self-isolating has been really hard for me too.      When it all first started to change, Steve was taken into hospital with a bunch of different symptoms. COVID wasn't really a thing then, so he wasn't tested for it, but looking back, we're pretty sure that's what it was. While he was in hospital in March, an inspector from the RSPCA came to check on the welfare of our dogs as they'd had a report that Sky, our GSD, was too skinny. She is petite, a slim girl who didn't have a good start in life but is spoilt rotten now, along with our other 2, Bella and Minnie. They had no concerns and

Blog Tour Stop and Review of The Holiday Escape by Heidi Swain

Welcome to my stop on the Blog Tour for The Holiday Escape by the delightful Heidi Swain! Let me preface this by saying that this is my first blog tour in a year, and the last one was for Heidi's last standalone book, The Book-Lovers Retreat! What better way to make my comeback than this??!! What They Say: Her dream holiday is his everyday life. His dream holiday is her normal life. What happens when they collide?   Ally and her dad, Geoff, run the family business, a creative retreat, from their home Hollyhock Cottage in picturesque Kittiwake Cove. They give their guests their dream break, but Ally hankers after glamourous city living, fancy restaurants and art galleries. Ally’s survival strategy is to escape out of season, take a break abroad and pretend to be the person she always imagined she would be. She meets Logan while she’s away and he turns out to be  exactly  the kind of distraction she’s looking for. With her spirits restored, Ally returns home, picks up the reins again
