TISHYLOU'S BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARDS 2014

Hello! I hope you've had a lovely Holiday period and got loads of lovely book-ish gifts! We had a very chilled out, relaxed time and spent some time with good friends.

Right, down to business...

It's time for the Top 10 Books of 2014 (in my opionion!)

10 - The No Kids Club by Talli Roland. This is a lovely story about the struggle to decide whether parenthood is right for you or not. It made me think, cry and laugh.

9 - The Teashop on the Corner by Milly Johnson. A warm and touching tale featuring a dreamy teashop, loveable characters and lots of cake!

8 - Where Love Lies by Julie Cohen. This book was so emotional and beautiful! Just wonderful!

7 - You Had Me At Merlot by Lisa Dickenson. Hilarious, sweet, sexy! This book was everything a summer read should be! Grab a glass of wine and enjoy!

6 - The Judas Scar by Amanda Jennings. This book broke me in to a million pieces! I sobbed so hard but was completely compelled to finish it. Gritty, gripping and emotional!

5 - The Couple on the Green by Avie Bennett. Such a powerful story of love and loss. An amazing debut by a very talented author.

4 - The Travelling Tea Shop by Belinda Jones. I adored this book! The tasty cakes, the gorgeous scenery, THE BUS! Belinda at her best!

3 - The Accident by CL Taylor. One of the first thrillers I read as a blogger and what a way to start! Terrifying, twisty, dark and gripping! If you haven't read this, you're missing out!!

2 - The Memory Book by Rowan Coleman. Everybody has been talking about this book for months now. It is beautiful, heart breaking, painful, sweet and endearing. One of the best by a firm favourite of mine.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!! MY BOOK OF THE YEAR FOR 2014 IS........................................

THE DEAD WIFE'S HANDBOOK BY HANNAH BECKERMAN

This book broke my heart but restored my faith in humanity. It made me think, it made me laugh and cry and miss my Mum terribly. The characters are just so real and touching. The plot is totally original and thought provoking. One of the best debut books I have ever read!

Special Mention To - All In The Leaves by Pat Elliott. This was my favourite first book in a series! I can't wait to read the next two books!!

Hi there! I know it's been ages since I've done a personal blog post.      Things have been... weird. I know the whole world has struggled getting used to this new normal and the new measures we have to follow. So many people have lost so much to COVID and my heart breaks for them. And while the virus itself hasn't changed my life very much, this time of lockdowns and self-isolating has been really hard for me too.      When it all first started to change, Steve was taken into hospital with a bunch of different symptoms. COVID wasn't really a thing then, so he wasn't tested for it, but looking back, we're pretty sure that's what it was. Blog Tour Stop with Review of A Truth For A Truth by Carol Wyer

  First off, I must apologise to Zoe and Carol. My blog tour stop was yesterday, and somehow my post got lost in the ether. I didn't notice until today, as thr hubby hasn't been well, and my time has been taken up with my dogs and caring for hubs. So, a day late and pared down from my original post due to lack of time, here is my review of A.Truth For A Truth by the wonderful Carol Wyer. Review: What can I say?? Any book by Carol Wyer is going to be a hit in my opinion, and this is no exception. DI Kate Young is a flawed character who is full of heart and humility. I think she's been dealt a shit hand in life, and struggles to figure out her path. Traumas and dramas, untrustworthy men, and unstable mental health make her slightly difficult to bond with sometimes. But still, I care a lot about her wellbeing. This installment of her series is really compelling, and an interesting take on a "who dunnit". More of a "who will they THINK dunnit"! I loved that!
